A Partial Review of the Seventies and Eighties:
- by Brian W. Zelley, B. Com., CA
The above link takes a provincial focus of British Columbia, but out of
all the names would be some of those that held National titles in the Seventies.
The Stories on the Canadian Amateur Boxing site:
http://bzelley-canadianamateurboxing.blogspot.ca/2010_02_01_archive.html
The above series of posts would cover the champions of the Seventies with
many names such as:
Jack Snaith, Ian Clyde, Les Hamilton, Sidney McKnight, Derrick Hoyt,
Bill Rannelli, Frank Nolan jr., Carmen Rinke, Roger Fortin, John Rafferty
Chris Clarke and Carroll Morgan.
Of the stories, one of the standout events was that of
CHRIS CLARKE who would win a gold medal in the
1975 Pan American Games.
Another Canadian boxer of interest was Cranbrook, BC
boxer DERRIC HOYT. He would be one of BC's top boxers
in the second half of the Seventies.
