1969 A New Beginning

, the BC boxers to old titles would be 1967 Canadian National Champions: by Brian Zelley


It was the start of the post golden age from 1939      to 1967, but some old faces would
 return such as 1968 Canadian Olympic boxer  Walter Henry. One of the new faces
 on the scene was BC boxer Neil Austin,  Others names appeared such as Hick, Groleau,
 O'Reilly, Bozic and Summerhayes.

The Family Connections in British Columbia

*For  1968, the two BC boxers to be given the 
opportunity to compete were Neil Austin and Pat O'Reilly jr.  Both were from boxing clubs where their fathers were the head coaches.  Austin was from the Langley Boxing club and his father was coach Walter Austin and O'Reilly
was from the long running Hastings Community Centre boxing club coached by Pat O'Reilly.

  1. Neil P. Austin is my stepfather. A Marvel in the ring. life hit him harder than any man could. We lost touch. I here he lost a leg. The man could still catch me in a race. Dont give up "Pasqualli" Love Trevor
